Stay in Your Own Lane to Lead with Your Own Light
This episode explores the powerful lesson of resisting comparison, from a highway moment with a custom license plate to a painful reminder after a sold-out event. Through vivid metaphors about driving, headlights, and self-trust, it encourages listeners to stop lane-drifting, reclaim their focus, and lead from their own light.
Chapter 1
The License Plate Doorway and the Birth of a Truth
Dr. Elisa Malangone
Welcome to Ignite Your Insight. I'm your host, Dr. Elisa Malangone... However; calling me Elisa is just fine. Have you ever had one of those moments where life didn't shout... it whispered?...Not a booming voice from Heaven. Not some dramatic miracle..Just one of those quiet little moments that somehow landed exactly where your heart needed it?...That's what happened to me on my drive to church... It was just an ordinary Sunday morning. I wasn't searching for signs. I wasn't asking Spirit for answers. I was simply driving, enjoying the quiet, letting my mind settle before church. As I was driving, I noticed the personalized license plate on the car directly in front of me.It read...P O W R F O. My brain immediately filled in the missing letters..."POWERFUL"! And I smiled. Not because I thought the Universe had somehow arranged a personalized license plate just for me. Although often, that's the case, but because it felt like one of those gentle reminders that occasionally arrives exactly when we need it.It didn't feel like I was being told something new...It felt like I was being invited to remember something I already knew. Power isn't something we go out and find.Sometimes it's simply something we need to remember...Maybe you've had moments like that too. Moments when life quietly reminds you of who you already are. A few moments later, I glanced into the lane beside me. There was another plate that stood out. It ended with the numbers 666. I actually laughed out loud. Not because of the "sign of the beast" biblical teachings around it. It was simply the very first thought that popped into my head. "Well... thank goodness I'm not in that lane, because the lane that I'm in just reminded me how "POWERFUL" it is and how Powerful "I am"." And the moment I said it, another thought arrived almost immediately. I get to choose my lane. Not just on the highway. In life. I get to choose where I place my attention.I get to choose where I invest my energy. I get to choose whether I spend my time watching what everyone else is doing... or whether I keep my eyes on the road that's been placed in front of me.Because the truth is...Most of us don't lose ourselves all at once.We lose ourselves a lane at a time.We drift into comparison. We drift into people pleasing. We drift into wondering if we're enough. We drift into trying to sound like someone else, look like someone else, build what someone else has built. Before we know it...We're no longer leading our own lives. We're reacting to someone else's.As I continued driving, another memory surfaced.I realized this wasn't the first time life had taught me this lesson. In fact...One of the most meaningful lessons I've ever learned about purpose...About authenticity...And about leading with your own light...Was born from one of the most painful seasons of my life. And that's the story I want to share with you today...
Chapter 2
The Cost of Lane-Drifting and Forgetting Your Power
Dr. Elisa Malangone
Some of you may remember an episode I shared called Love Notes From Heaven. In that episode, I opened my heart and shared how one of the most painful seasons of my life completely changed the way I looked at Valentine's Day.For a long time, Valentine's Day had become a reminder of what was missing instead of what was possible. Rather than waiting for someone else to make me feel loved, I made a different choice. I decided to create a space where people could come together and experience love in an entirely different way—a place where they could reconnect with loved ones in Spirit, remember that love never dies, and perhaps leave feeling just a little more whole than when they arrived. In many ways, I stopped waiting to receive love on Valentine's Day......and instead chose to become... "LOVE!" on Valentine's Day.That's how Love Notes From Heaven was born. If you haven't heard that story, I'd encourage you to go back and listen to that episode because today's conversation actually begins where that one ended...Years later, I learned that another local medium had begun using the same title for one of her events. At first, even though I knew that title was the heartbeat of my original platform and creativity...I honestly didn't think much about it... Then something unexpected happened. People began reaching out to me believing that I had borrowed my own title from someone else. It was a strange position to find myself in. Not because I was concerned about owning a title...But because I suddenly found myself explaining the history behind something that had been born from one of the most meaningful chapters of my own life. As I sat with it, something shifted inside me. I realized that she knew the title...But she didn't know the story. She couldn't. She didn't know why Valentine's Day mattered to me. She didn't know what that season of my life created for the purpose that I had partnered with. She didn't know that what looked like an event to everyone else......had once been an answered prayer to me...And then something even deeper occurred to me. Maybe this wasn't about titles at all. Maybe this was about lanes...You see, I don't believe she intentionally stepped into mine...I simply don't think she knew where my lane had begun.

And that realization invited me to ask a much more important question...How often do we unknowingly step into someone else's lane because we haven't fully trusted our own? Maybe you've done it. I'm pretty sure I probably have as well... In fact, I know I have and it was unconscious and truly unintentional... however; when I first started out as a medium, one of my dear friends "lovingly" asked me to stop saying my reading style was similar to a more well known medium at the time. She went on to say that I was selling myself short. I really never shared that info to make a comparison, I think I just wanted to give people a familiar example to go by. I trusted her feedback and stopped that immediately and nearly 13 years later, I still feel that friend was right... I was dimming my own light and selling myself short because at the time I thought I needed to "sell" myself at all. It also gave me the opportunity to fully learn who I was and who I wanted to be in my own lane... And guess what? In discovering who I wasn't, I finally discovered who I was.I realized I wasn't here to simply deliver messages. I was here to create a space where people felt seen, safe, and supported enough to truly receive them. Presence became my purpose. Compassion became my language. And I discovered that the most powerful thing I could ever bring to a session... was simply being me. We admire someone's success...so we begin sounding a little more like them. We love someone's message...so we begin shaping ours to resemble theirs. We see something working...and before we realize it, we're following someone else's roadmap instead of listening for our own direction. The interesting thing is that none of it usually comes from a bad place. It comes from admiration. From inspiration.Sometimes even from uncertainty. We all know the expression "Imitation is the fondest form of flattery" ...But here's what I've learned...What gives your work its power isn't the title...It's the truth that gave birth to it. Your life has given you experiences no one else has lived. Your heartbreak. Your healing. Your failures. Your resilience.Your conversations.Your prayers.Your miracles. Those things cannot be duplicated.Someone may share similar words.Someone may create something that resembles what you've built. But they can never bring your life, your heart and your unshakable essence to it. And neither can you bring yours to theirs. Because that's what gives your area of service its heartbeat...Not what you do...But why you do it. Not what you've built...But what has built you.And no one else has lived the life that prepared you to serve the way you do. That's when the words became unmistakably clear to me...Stay in your own lane so you can lead with your own light. Those words have never been about competition. They've never been about ownership. They've never been about building fences around our ideas. They've always been about remembering that the light you're here to shine can only come from the life you've actually lived. Every time we compare...Every time we chase...Every time we try to recreate someone else's path...We move just a little farther away from our own. The world doesn't need another version of someone you admire. It needs the version of you that has been shaped by every chapter you've survived, every lesson you've learned, and every experience you've had the courage to transform into wisdom. Because purpose isn't found by looking sideways. Purpose is found by looking inward. So today, I want to leave you with the same reminder that has guided me ever since. Trust your story. Honor your journey. Celebrate the people who inspire you...But don't abandon your own path trying to walk theirs. Stay in your own lane...So you can lead with your own light...And that's a pretty "POWERFUL" license plate to showcase as you do so, My Love...If today's episode resonated with you, I'd love to continue the conversation. You can learn more about my work, upcoming events, and private sessions at ElisaInsight.com. Until next time... I'll leave you with one final original pulse from my own lane...My sacred signature sign-off...Much Love... Light...and Insight...
