Coming to Your Senses

Dr. Elisa Malangone guides listeners through the awakening of their intuitive senses, showing that being sensitive is a return to our natural state, not a flaw. Explore the origins of intuition, the science and spirit behind it, and practical ways to channel your soul's wisdom in everyday life.

Chapter 1

Welcome Back to Your Senses

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Hello, gorgeous soul — and welcome back to Ignite Your Insight. I’m Elisa Malangone, and today, we’re doing something wildly radical… we’re going to invite you to come back to your senses. And no, I don’t mean that thing adults used to say when you had a wild idea in your head, “Come back to your senses!” as if you’re off in la-la land. That phrase always bugged me as a kid, actually. But here’s the twist — we’re coming back to the real senses, the orchestra of intuition living right inside you.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Because the truth is, your senses were never meant to just perceive the world — they were designed to translate it. Every whisper, every tingle, every gut feeling is your soul’s way of saying, “Hey, I’m here. I’ve been here all along.” We’ve just been taught to tune it out, to numb it down, to trust logic over language that lives in the body. But your intuition? It’s not mystical — it’s musical. It plays in frequencies your heart already knows by memory. And when you begin to listen again, really listen, you’ll realize that coming back to your senses isn’t about finding something new — it’s about returning to what’s always been true.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Let’s take a moment with the word “psychic.” It gets tossed around a lot, right? Sometimes it sounds spooky or out-there — but if you peel it back, it comes from the Greek word “psychikos.” Means “of the soul.” Not “of the circus,” not “of the scam,” not “of the weird relative at Thanksgiving.” Just… soul. When somebody tells you, “You’re so psychic,” maybe that’s their way of noticing how much soul you’re putting out into the world.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

I remember being that little kid who was called “too sensitive.” Like, raise your hand if you’ve ever heard that about yourself — “You’re too much,” “You feel too deep,” “You take things to heart.” Yeah… me too. It took me decades to realize, “Wait, that’s my superpower.” My sensitivity isn’t a flaw — it’s my intuition tuning me to a deeper reality, a wisdom that’s always whispering. And here’s the thing — sometimes the people who tell you to “grow a thicker skin” are just trying to avoid the mirror your truth holds up to them. So today, let’s hold that up as a badge of honor. You’re sensitive? Gorgeous. That means you’re finally sensing again.

Chapter 2

The Soul’s Conversation Before Birth

Dr. Elisa Malangone

So, let me take you back to the very beginning — before the story you tell about yourself even had words. Did you know that around six months into pregnancy, a baby, still in the womb, actually begins to dream? I mean, think about that: in the womb! Science observes these rapid eye movements, just like adults in REM sleep, suggesting — wow — some flicker of consciousness, little spirit dancing before entering the world. Isn’t that wild?

Dr. Elisa Malangone

For me, this is proof that intuition isn’t something you find after you’re born. It’s already there, baked in. Now, I had this client once — we’ll call her “M”— and in a hypnosis regression, she remembered the womb. Not the sounds, not the science, but these big, floaty feelings of being loved and watched over. It was all sensation, way before words. That’s what I mean by our soul’s conversation — happening before our first breath.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

So if you’ve ever felt like you just know things, sense things, or have a feeling about someone — that’s soul intelligence, not just grown-up storytelling. You came in with this wisdom. You’re returning to it now.

Chapter 3

Understanding the Six Soul Senses

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Alright, let’s put some names to what you’re feeling — the six soul senses. These aren’t superpowers for fortune-tellers in velvet turbans; this is your sacred biology. There’s clairvoyance — clear seeing; clairsentience — clear feeling; clairaudience — clear hearing; claircognizance — clear knowing; clairalience — clear smelling; and yes, clairgustance — clear tasting! Each one of these shines in its own everyday, ordinary magic.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Déjà vu? That’s your clairvoyance sneaking up — a flash of clear seeing beyond time. Those gut feelings when you meet someone new, and you just, well, know? That’s clairsentience. Maybe you suddenly hear your name when you’re all alone — that’s clairaudience, and honestly, it can feel wild at first. And don’t get me started on the times you “just know,” without any evidence; that’s claircognizance, your soul’s version of instant downloads. And then, the subtle sense memories — smelling grandma’s cookies when you’re missing her, or tasting something from your childhood out of nowhere… that’s your soul talking, too.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

For me, it’s mostly clairsentience — that’s my strongest sense, then clairvoyance will join and marry. Once I learned that feeling so much was actually a gift — not something to shut down — it changed everything. Decision-making, relationships, tuning into my clients, even what lane I pick at the grocery store! Okay, maybe I still overthink that one. But the trust I’ve developed came from honoring the way my soul communicates with me.

Chapter 4

The Heart-Brain Connection

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Now, let’s geek out a little — science meets spirit, right? The heart and the brain aren’t just doing their own thing. They’re literally having a conversation, buzzing with energy and emotion. Neuroscience, especially the research from HeartMath, shows that the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain does to the heart. The heart’s electromagnetic field is huge — like, it can be measured several feet around you! This field colors your mood, your mind, even your relationships.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Whenever I’ve had to make a big decision — I’m talking the kind where your stomach’s doing somersaults and you’re not sure which way is up — I come back to heart-centered breathing. Inhale, exhale, picture your breath moving in and out of your heart. Do it now, if you can. That’s when my intuition gets loud and clear. My clients say it too — when we connect to the heart, suddenly, the answer feels simple. Not always easy, but simple.

Chapter 5

Grounding Sensitivity as Strength

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Okay, let’s flip the story about sensitivity. I get so passionate about this because people are told to hide it, numb it, or call it dramatic. What if sensitivity was seen as a skill — the very sense that lets you live fully, love fiercely, and carry wisdom others miss?

Dr. Elisa Malangone

There are practical ways to root that sensitivity so it opens, instead of overwhelms. Breathwork — I do three deep, intentional breaths before I walk into a crowded room, every time. Nature — even just stepping onto the grass barefoot or leaning into a tree. Visualization — imagine golden roots growing from your feet deep into the earth, because when you’re grounded, your wings can really soar. And that’s my favorite metaphor: roots and wings. You need both to move through life with intuition and grace.

Chapter 6

Energy Dynamics and Boundaries

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Let’s talk energy. We will uncover the double edged sword concerning the Empathic Heart in a future episode, however; lets focus on this today. Sensitive people are like little emotional tuning forks — if you’ve noticed you pick up on other people’s stuff, it’s not just in your head. We all have an energy field, a subtle boundary, but those of us wired intuitively… we can be sponges.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Tools? Visual shields are powerful. I picture solar panels around me to transmute and filter the energies — some folks imagine mirrors, others use colors. Setting intentions before you step out into busy spaces helps too: “Only loving and uplifting energy is allowed in.” I learned this the hard way at a crowded airport. People everywhere, energy flying all around — I felt like I’d caught every emotion in the terminal. The minute I remembered to shield up, breathe, and set that clear intention, I could walk through all that chaos calm and centered. Game changer.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Oh and here's a little tip for airports, most airports have interfaith chapels or prayer rooms. One day when I was traveling home, my flight was delayed for three hours and my energy was starting to feel very depleted. All of a sudden, I felt the urge to check to see if the airport had a meditation space and not only did they have one, there was also a sensory room. So when it comes to balancing your energy, coming to your senses can come in handy.

Chapter 7

Deciphering Intuitive Guidance vs. Overthinking

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Here’s a biggie: how do you tell the difference between soul wisdom and the noisy chatter of fear, or just wishful thinking? Honestly, I wrestle with it sometimes, too. The key is learning where you feel intuition in your body — usually calm, present, a gentle nudge. Overthinking? That’s busy, tense, stuck in your head or stomach.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Try this: the next time you have a hunch, pause, and see where it lands in your body. Is it grounded like a deep note, or buzzing like a swarm of bees? I had a client convinced her “gut feeling” was anxiety — but with practice, mindful listening showed her the real intuition was quieter, steadier. Shift happens when you slow down and listen from the inside out.

Chapter 8

Turning Intuition Into Everyday Compass

Dr. Elisa Malangone

Let’s make this practical — intuition isn’t just for big life moments, it’s for every day. Start small: what do I feel drawn to eat today? Which way should I walk? Then, as confidence builds, bring it into the big choices: job moves, relationships, healing journeys.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

I love journaling for this — letting my thoughts spill and watching for those little nudges, the words that “shine.” Dream recall, too — some of my most powerful soul messages have come in the middle of the night. Body scans for subtle signals — I do them often, quick check-ins for tension or openness. One time, a little voice told me to reach out about a professional opportunity; I thought, “Oh, that’s out there for me.” But I followed it… and it changed my career path. Trust those nudges — they’re insight from your soul.

Chapter 9

Honoring All Your Senses, Even the Subtle

Dr. Elisa Malangone

You know, we give so much credit to seeing and hearing, but our “lesser” senses — smell and taste — carry powerful messages, too. Smell is like a time machine; one scent can carry you years back or open a doorway to spirit. Taste, too — ever eaten something and felt memories rush in?

Dr. Elisa Malangone

If you are in a safe place of stillness, no driving or operating heavy machinery, complete stillness, I invite you: close your eyes right now, and bring to mind a scent or a flavor that means something deep to you. Is it fresh rain, cinnamon rolls, maybe your grandparent’s spaghetti sauce? I had a client who suddenly smelled her late grandmother’s signature perfume out of nowhere, exactly when she needed comfort. She knew, in her bones, it was a hello from the other side. These senses are subtle, but they’re part of your spiritual toolkit — don’t ignore them.

Chapter 10

You’re Not Too Sensitive, You’re Finally Sensing

Dr. Elisa Malangone

So here’s what I want you to remember — sensitivity isn’t your flaw, it’s your greatest return. Reclaiming your soul senses is true power; it’s how you remember who you’ve always been. Treat your intuition like a muscle, daily, tender, and curious. Don’t deny it — hone it, celebrate it, play with it like an artist with new colors.

Dr. Elisa Malangone

I’ll leave you with my mantra, so let it echo in your heart: “The matters of your heart truly matter to my heart.” Keep awakening those senses, keep sensing with courage and wonder. There’s so much more ahead on this journey. Much Love, Light, and Insight… for now.
